Planting joy, roots, and hope across borders

Ekagaj

Our mission to plant 1 million trees isn't just about reforestation—it’s about creating living spaces where biodiversity thrives, where children learn the value of nature, and where communities come together to celebrate our planet.

On our latest adventure, we took The Happy Plant Project to the stunning and soulful country of Nepal. From sacred temples and schools to eco-resorts and mountaintops, we carried native saplings and a whole lot of love. Here’s how our joyful journey unfolded—one stop at a time:

Stop 1. Lumbini – Planting Peace Where It All Began

We began our Nepal journey at Abharbhut Government School and the Kalki Mata Temple in Dayanagar, Lumbini—the birthplace of Lord Buddha. This sacred, serene location set the perfect tone for our green mission.

Students, teachers, and even parents came out in full force to plant fruit-bearing and shade-providing trees in their schoolyard and temple grounds. The joy on the kids’ faces as they held their first sapling was unforgettable. They didn’t just plant trees—they planted hope, awareness, and responsibility for the environment.

We carefully selected native species like mango, guava, and peepal—trees that nourish local wildlife and improve soil health—ensuring that biodiversity would flourish in this sacred soil.

Stop 2. Pokhara – Cultivating Tomorrow’s Eco Champions

Our second stop was Gate Polytechnic Academy in Pokhara, where we joined hands with enthusiastic students from the Sustainability in Tourism Studies program. These young minds, full of curiosity and care for the environment, brought a fresh energy to our mission.

On the vibrant FAB School Campus, we planted a mix of native fruit and shade trees—trees that will soon become living classrooms, offering lessons in ecosystem balance, pollinator protection, and climate resilience.

This wasn’t just a plantation—it was a masterclass in climate leadership. Students learned how planting trees connects directly to cleaner air, stronger soil, and sustainable tourism in the Himalayas.

Stop 3. The Pavilions Himalayas – Where Luxury Meets Sustainability

Next, we visited the breathtaking Pavilions Himalayas – Lake View & The Farm, nestled in the heart of Pokhara. Surrounded by lush hills and crystal-clear skies, we planted trees alongside the resort team and nature-loving guests.

The hospitality here wasn’t just warm—it was deeply rooted in sustainable living. The resort’s commitment to eco-conscious tourism made it a perfect partner for our project. Each tree planted now serves as a living symbol of harmony between luxury and environmental responsibility.

By planting biodiverse native species, we also helped expand green corridors for birds and pollinators, making these retreats not just beautiful, but biodiversity-friendly.

Stop 4. Rupakot Resort – Greening the Hills of Pokhara

In the charming hilltop escape of Rupakot, we planted amidst smiles and rolling green landscapes at the gorgeous Rupakot Resort. With majestic views of the Annapurna range in the background, this stop was nothing short of surreal.

As the sun rose behind the hills, we dug, planted, and watered with the resort team, spreading not just soil, but stories, laughter, and a shared mission to protect Nepal’s natural beauty. These trees will offer shelter to native birds, help prevent erosion, and create calm, shady spaces for future visitors.

Stop 5. Devchuli – Healing Spaces at Miraaya Wellness Resort

Our next destination was the tranquil Miraaya Wellness and Golf Resort, supported by the visionary Chaudhary Foundation. Located in the stunning foothills of Devchuli, this haven for holistic healing welcomed us with open arms and green hearts.

Together with resort guests and staff, we planted trees that not only benefit the Earth but also promote well-being and biodiversity. Native flowering species attracted bees and butterflies, while fruit trees will provide nutrition for both people and local wildlife.

This was nature therapy in action, proving how planting trees can rejuvenate the land and the soul.

Stop 6: Reaching New Heights in Dhulikhel – Where History and Green Futures Grow

At a breathtaking altitude of 1,600 meters above sea level, our tree-planting journey took us to the historic and serene Dhulikhel—a place known not just for its panoramic Himalayan views but also its deep connection to diplomacy, peace, and nature.

We were incredibly honoured to plant trees at the beautiful The Dwarikas Dhulikhel, a resort steeped in eco-conscious values and cultural preservation. But this wasn’t just any location—it’s the very site where the 2014 SAARC Summit Plantation took place, where South Asian leaders came together to plant trees as a symbol of unity, peace, and environmental hope.

Returning to this sacred green space, we felt the weight of history and the energy of renewal. With every sapling we planted—native species suited to high-altitude biodiversity like Himalayan cherry, dhupi, and lokta—we helped add to a living legacy that now serves as a climate-resilient zone for birds, pollinators, and people.

The cool mountain air, the sound of prayer flags fluttering, and the presence of a passionate local team made this stop unforgettable. Dhulikhel reminded us that planting a tree isn't just about the future—it's also about honouring the past.

Stop 7: Women, Wisdom, and Green Magic in Charikot

Our final destination on this magical Nepal drive was the tranquil and inspiring town of Charikot—and it was the perfect close to a mission filled with heart and purpose.

We partnered with the incredible team at Charikot Panorama Resort, a women-run eco-resort tucked amidst misty hills and ancient monasteries. This wasn’t just a plantation—it was a celebration of women-led sustainability, of wisdom passed down through generations, and of community-driven environmental action.

Together, we planted trees near the sacred monastery located on the resort campus, infusing the space with even more life, shade, and spirit. Native flowering trees were chosen specifically to support the local bird population and pollinator species, making the area a small but vital pocket of biodiversity.

As we dug, planted, and watered the saplings, we were joined by monks, resort staff, and nature-loving guests. The atmosphere was filled with joy, gratitude, and shared intention. Charikot reminded us that when women lead, communities flourish—and so does the environment.

This stop wasn't just the end of our drive. It was a beautiful beginning to what we hope will be a growing forest of change, nurtured by strong women and rooted in tradition and respect for the land.

Every Tree Counts—And So Does Every Person

This drive was more than planting trees—it was about planting purpose, togetherness, and transformation. Each sapling is now growing into a home for bees, a breath of fresh air, or a shady space for a child to rest.
