Kathmandu, March 12 – The House of Representatives (HoR) is set to convene today for an important legislative session, where several key bills aimed at governance, economic reform, and national security will be tabled for discussion and further processing. During the session, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to present the Bill to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Relating to the Promotion of Good Governance and Delivery of Public Services, 2081 BS. This bill aims to streamline governance, enhance transparency, and improve the delivery of public services, ensuring efficiency and accountability within the administrative system.

In addition, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel is set to introduce a series of economic and business-related bills that are expected to have a significant impact on Nepal’s investment climate and fiscal policies.

These include:

  • The Bill to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Relating to Improving the Economic and Business Environment and Promoting Investment, 2081 BS – which seeks to create a more conducive environment for both domestic and foreign investment by addressing legal and structural barriers.
  • The Economic Procedure and Fiscal Responsibility (First Amendment) Bill, 2081 BS – designed to strengthen fiscal discipline and accountability in public financial management.
  • The Privatization (First Amendment) Bill, 2081 BS – which proposes necessary amendments to existing laws to regulate and facilitate the privatization of state-owned enterprises, ensuring a competitive and transparent process.

Similarly, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation, Balaram Adhikari, will present the Bill to Amend Some Nepal Acts Relating to the Cooperatives, 2081 BS. This proposed legislation aims to modernize cooperative policies, enhance financial oversight, and promote sustainable cooperative practices, ultimately contributing to poverty alleviation and rural development. Meanwhile, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak is set to propose sending the Armed Police Force, Nepal Bill, 2081 BS to the concerned parliamentary committee for clause-wise discussions. This bill focuses on strengthening the legal framework governing the Armed Police Force (APF), defining its roles, responsibilities, and operational structure to enhance national security and law enforcement capabilities. Today's session is expected to witness significant deliberations, with lawmakers engaging in discussions on these crucial legislative reforms. These proposed amendments and new laws are anticipated to play a pivotal role in shaping Nepal’s governance, economic landscape, and security framework in the years to come.
