Morang-Sixty-one years old Chandra Kumari Limbu of ward no 5 in Sundarhariacha rural municipality in Morang district recently died in an elephant attack. She was returning

home from nearby forest after collecting firewood when the incident took place, said Krishna Khattri, Chief of Area Police Office in Belbari. Some two weeks ago, Ganga Shrestha, 40, succumbed to

elephant's attack in jungle when she went to nearby Srijana Community Forest at ward no 7 to collect firewood, police added. Wild elephants entering human settlements and wreaking havoc are

becoming more common incidents in Sundarharaicha municipality lately. Over a dozen of wild elephants are estimated to live in Namuna community forest. The herd often enters human settlements,

attack humans, destroy crops and damage houses and other infrastructures, said Ganesh Chaudhary, ward no 5 Chairperson. He shared that the local residents keep vigil at night due to terror of the

wild mammoth. Bishnulal Ghimire, Chief of Division Forest Office, Morang informed that elephant menace is reported in Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari districts in the Koshi Province.

In light of growing incidents of wild elephant rampage, the District Police Office in Morang has urged for caution.
