Kathmandu, Oct 30: As many as 891 daughters have been so far enrolled in the daughter insurance programme run by Bharatpur Metropolitan City.
The daughters born from permanent residents of Bharatpur in government hospitals or health facility have been insured.
According to Metropolis Health and Social Development Division's director Shanta Kumari Poudel, 338 girls have been insured in the fiscal year 2079/80; 413 in the fiscal year 2080/81 and 140 in the current fiscal year so far.
The metropolitan city pays Rs 50,000 to the Rastriya Beema Company for the insurance purpose within 15 years. The insurance company in turn will provide Rs 100,000 to the insured, she added.
The metropolitan city has also been running various programmes targeting girls through schools.
